Eating Healthy and Juicing!

Wesley and I decided it was time t finally drop the fast food. (sigh...my beloved fast food :{ ) I could never really figure out exactly what to do in order to eat healthy, but I knew there was this thing that people did called juicing.
I first heard about this from It'sJudy'sLife on youtube. Her husband is very into healthy eating and Juicing. The more I researched about juicing, the more excited I got about eating healthy.

It's the easiest way to get tons of veggies and body-yummy stuff without forcing yourself to shovel salads!

So I didn't attempt this until now because I thought buying a bunch of veggies would be too expensive and I knew that our blender was absolutely terrible. Then one day, Wesley decided he wanted to see what it would be like to buy our own groceries (instead of using our parents). I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to change our...what shouldn't even be called...eating habits. So we went from eating huge egg and cheesy breakfast burritos, fast food after school, and whatever we could find dinners to a checkout full of greens and reds and yellows and body-yummy foods.

My first attempt was a very sad day:[ I didn't quite get the ingredients right and forgot that with a weaker blender, you need to have more liquid. I assumed that I had too much when I was making it. I added too much lime and had overboard on kale. I came out chunky, bitter, and sour. I was kind of defeated and worried that we wasted our money.
The next day we went to the zoo to celebrate three years together. Our foods consisted of a breakfast burrito made with sauteed green pepper and garlic, egg, a tiny bit of shredded cheese, topped with avocado all on some whole wheat tortillas. For snacks we had bananas and apples. (although I didn't really eat them like I should have. We ended up buying vanilla ice creams while walking around. It's ok though! At least we were walking for HOURS) For lunch we had whole grain flat bread turkey sandwiches and a salad with lettuce, spinach, and kale. We sprinkled some cheese on top and didn't really use dressing. (Wesley doesn't really like it in the first place) We also had some homemade big pretzels, which weren't really healthy, but they were to fill us up for that entire day.
I think that was a pretty successful day full of good foods!

Now today, I wanted to attempt the juice again, but this time with our new blender and a new test of ingredients. It worked out perfectly! I used a handful of spinach, a handful of kale, a beet leaf, two celery sticks, a quarter cucumber, a whole apple, squeezed half a lime, and added water in about half way. Afer I blended all of that I tasted it and added about half a banana to make it taste better. The new blender still isn't that good, but it did well enough. I'm so proud of myself! :D
